Leah Gonzalez (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed professional clinical counselor who is dedicated to supporting individuals to cultivate growth and reconnecting with themselves through creativity, insight, and meaningful change. Her specialty interest includes: women’s, men’s, gender issues, trauma, grief, and life-transition stressors.
Leah’s clinical approach to client care is culturally responsive and relationally driven. She provides LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming care and utilizes evidence-based practices including trauma-informed approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness/somatic practices, and art based techniques. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families from age groups across the lifespan (children, teens, and adults).
Since 2021, Leah has gained clinical experience in private practice, school settings, military hospitals/clinics, and community mental health. She has developed women’s groups, facilitated safe group spaces for LGBT identifying youth, and provided educational processing groups for dual diagnoses (mental health and addictions).
Leah holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College and a Bachelor’s degree in pre-art therapy (psychology and studio arts) from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has 7+ years of experience serving in the United States Air Force Reserves and has clinical experience providing art therapy to military members who have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Leah’s aim is to collaboratively work with clients to set goals that align with each individual. She believes strong therapeutic relationships are built on curiosity over assumption, openness to feedback, and honors each individual lived experiences. Additionally, she integrates creativity to build client’s visual language where words may fall short. Her strengths include: creativity, adaptability, visionary, empathy, non-judgmental, and goal-focused.
Leah provides clinical supervision for students and professionals including CTs, LPCs, & ATR-Ps. She offers individual and group supervision and is actively working toward obtaining her ATR-BC & LPAT.
